The Irish men's cricket team are set to make history by being the first full member nation to tour the United States when they play the USA in Florida in a five match series in December. The tour will consist of two T20I's and three ODI's. The USA cricket side have also reached an agreement were they will tour Ireland within the next three years.  This tour will will also offer the Irish cricket side some much needed practice before their World Cup Super Series matches against the West Indies in January 2022. The matches against the USA will offer the Irish cricket side a perfect opportunity to get to grips with their new head coach, which as of writing is yet to be decided, after Graham Ford announced on the 17th November that he was leaving the role of head coach of the senior men's side after four years coaching the side. The 11th October 2021 will live long in the memory for Amy Hunter. Having only made her ODI debut at the start of the Ireland Women's tour to Zimbabwe, Amy would be heading back to Belfast the youngest ever ODI centurion. Amy also made history as he hit the highest ODI score ever for an Irish women and becoming only the fourth women to hit an ODI Hundred for Ireland. The first hundred for an Irish women since the year 2000.  What makes this day even more special it was Amy's 16th birthday. Amy only made her One-Day International debut in the first game of the tour and had amassed a total of seven runs in the three games prior to the famous hundred. In this blog post I will be talking to MTB Northern Knights head coach, Simon Johnston about the 2021 season, his goals for next season and what his plans are over the winter months with the representative players. Simon Johnston was appointed into his current role in October 2016 and has helped to improve the standard across the whole of the NCU.    Johnston who is a highly regarded Level 4 coach was voted as Cricket Ireland coach of the year in both 2015 and 2016 has helped bring success to the Northern Cricket Union winning the Interprovincial T20 series in 2019. 2021 Season for the MTB Northern Knights The previous season was a challenging one for the MTB Northern Knights. Tymal Mills has had ups and downs through his whole entire professional cricket career. From being diagnosed with a congenital back condition and being restricted to playing white ball cricket only, to being selected in England's final 15 player squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup.   I had the pleasure of being able to chat with Italian international cricketer Nikolai Smith before the start of Italy's World Cup Europe Qualifiers in Desert Springs, Spain where Italy will face Germany, Jersey, and also Denmark in hopes of making it to the next round of qualifiers. Nikolai has been training hard since the end of the NCU season with Instonians. Nikolai has also spent a lot of time over the summer working on his technique and also altering his batting style.  'I personally feel that I have been able to adapt my game well to different situations over the last few years. I have been involved in cricket as long as I can remember, playing my first cricket game at the age of eight. Since I have been playing cricket I have been through the full motions within the game. From winning a school's cup final to losing a cup final in the last over of my own bowling.
